SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation

Goal 6: Ensure availability and sustainable management                                of water and sanitation
Post-Event Sanitation and Wastewater Management at Siam University
The Building and Grounds Division of Siam University continuously oversees wastewater treatment and sanitation on campus regularly. However, the university hosted two large-scale events, Siam Fair 2025 (15–23 November 2025) and Siam Sports Fair 2026 (20–29 March 2026). Each attracted more than 1,000 participants per day. After both events, the university mobilized its staff and coordinated specifically with the Phasi Charoen District Office to conduct a “Big Cleaning” of the event areas. The cleaning covered the drainage pipes along the main roads, the Sports Center, and the Chalermprakiat Building (Building 12).
The post-event cleaning procedure consisted of three stages:
•
Site clearance and waste collection: Booth structures, tents, and stage equipment were removed. General waste was separated from food waste and taken off site. This stage addressed unpleasant odors from the drainage system, which arose because some vendors had discarded food scraps, cooking oil, and other waste into the drains on university grounds.
•
Cleaning of floors and surrounding roads: Staff swept and scrubbed the event areas, removed stains, and hosed down the roads and the Sports Center grounds.
•
Safety and sanitation inspection: The buildings, electrical systems, and overall cleanliness were inspected before the areas were returned to students for normal teaching and use.
The university received strong support from the Phasi Charoen District Office throughout the Big Cleaning operation. The District Office deployed its Cleaning Section and its Environment and Sanitation Section to organize the site, inspect food sanitation, and maintain order in the surrounding areas.
