On 27 October 2026, the Faculty of Pharmacy hosted a ceremony for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at Millennium Hall, 19th Floor, Chalermprakiat Building, Siam University. The occasion marked a significant step towards closer collaboration among academia, the pharmacy profession, and the health business sector. The MOU was signed by Dr. Pornchai Mongkhonvanit, President of Siam University; Assistant Professor Dr. Jainuch Kanchanapoo, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Siam University; Mr. Phongchai Petsanghan, President of the Thai Health Tech Trade Association; and Padoongyost Pisuthadamongkol, President of the Marketing Pharmaceutical Association of Thailand. Representatives of professional pharmacy organisations, including the Thai Drug Stores Association and the United Thai Drug Stores Association, attended the ceremony as witnesses and took part in discussions regarding prospective areas of cooperation. The partnership seeks to integrate academic knowledge, professional expertise, research, innovation, and practical experience from the healthcare business sector. Its principal objectives are to enhance education in pharmacy and related health disciplines; to develop the capabilities of students and practising professionals; to support collaborative research and innovation; to cultivate the next generation of healthcare entrepreneurs; and to strengthen Thailand’s health business ecosystem. The meeting further provided an opportunity to examine several potential areas of future collaboration. These include the development of a telepharmacy application, the use of technology and innovation in support of pharmacy services, educational models that more closely link academic learning with professional and business practice, and opportunities for joint research and the development of health innovations. This MOU constitutes a further milestone for the Faculty of Pharmacy, Siam University, in strengthening its relationships with professional pharmacy networks, community pharmacy entrepreneurs, and the HealthTech industry. Through these partnerships, the Faculty intends to translate knowledge into practical innovation, to prepare future healthcare professionals and entrepreneurs, and to contribute to the sustainable advancement of Thailand’s pharmacy and healthcare system.
Partners with Three Pharmacy Associations to Launch Program for Modern Pharmacists
On 16 January 2026, Siam University signed a MOU on academic cooperation with three leading pharmacy associations in Thailand: the Drugstore Association, the Ruam Jai Thai Drugstore Association, and the Community Pharmacy Association (Thailand). The agreement brings together the University’s academic resources and the professional experience of organisations that represent a substantial share of the country’s community pharmacy sector. The partnership responds to the changing role of the pharmacist in Thailand’s healthcare system. Community pharmacies increasingly serve as the first point of contact for patients, while operating in a competitive environment shaped by new technologies, evolving consumer expectations, and regulatory change. In this context, pharmacists require not only sound clinical and pharmaceutical knowledge but also the ability to manage, develop, and sustain a business. The collaboration therefore seeks to produce graduates who combine professional expertise with entrepreneurial capability in the health business sector.
Under the MOU, the parties intend to work together on curriculum development, practical training, and knowledge exchange, so that students gain direct exposure to the realities of pharmacy practice and management. The associations’ involvement is expected to ensure that the University’s teaching remains closely aligned with the needs of the profession and the market. In conjunction with the agreement, the University launched the Pharm.D. Plus MBA programme, which integrates pharmaceutical sciences with business administration. Students will pursue the Doctor of Pharmacy curriculum alongside studies in areas essential to running a health enterprise, preparing them to practise as qualified pharmacists while also equipping them to lead and grow pharmacy businesses. The programme is designed particularly for the successors of family-owned pharmacy businesses, who will one day assume responsibility for their enterprises, as well as for others with an interest in health-related entrepreneurship. It will admit its first cohort in the 2026 academic year. Through this initiative, Siam University reaffirms its commitment to developing a new generation of pharmacists who are equipped to meet the demands of modern practice and to contribute to the long-term strength of Thailand’s community pharmacy and health business sectors.

Campaign fot a Kidney-Friendly University
https://ffcthailand.org/news/pharmacy-kidney-care-2026
Pharmacy faculties and the Thai Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth) launched a nationwide campaign to slow the progression of kidney disease on 19 August 2026. In this event, Assistant Professor Dr. Jainuch Kanchanapoo, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy represented Siam University. The faculty called for a shift in mindset from treating illness to preventing it through everyday choices, such as tasting food before seasoning it, reducing salt intake, and thinking carefully before taking painkillers. Pharmacy students serve as key agents of change. They work directly with the public to find practical ways of changing behaviour, gaining real-world experience and developing into socially responsible pharmacists. The faculty is also building a health ecosystem that links the university with the wider community. On campus, it works with food vendors on a “less seasoning, less salt” campaign. Beyond the campus, it partners with elderly care centres to review residents’ medications and educate them on safe medicine use, building trust between the university and the community. Its messages on rational drug use stress careful use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), informed use of herbal and health products, not stopping prescribed medicines without medical advice, and consulting a doctor or pharmacist whenever in doubt. Looking ahead, the faculty aims to make Siam University a “kidney-friendly university.” It plans to expand its network of student key agents, develop educational materials, and integrate kidney health into its teaching and learning. Through these efforts, it hopes to make slowing kidney decline part of everyday life, starting with one small, better decision each day.
Siam Cares for Health Project
In the digital era, health information spreads rapidly and is easily accessed through social media. As a result, many people face information overload and misinformation, which can lead to misunderstandings, inappropriate health practices, and a lower quality of life. Accurate, accessible, and reliable health knowledge from professional sources is therefore essential for building health literacy across society and enabling people to manage their own health sustainably. In response, the Faculty of Medicine at Siam University, an institution committed to holistic health care, developed the “Siam Cares for Health” project. The project uses infographics and short videos shared on Facebook, TikTok, and other public media to disseminate medical information and practical health tips. It also answers public questions in an approachable manner, allowing it to reach younger, digitally active audiences effectively. Beyond giving back to society and improving community well-being, the project also serves as an important channel for promoting the Faculty. Community members reported satisfaction with the content and a better understanding of health issues. Developing Community-Based Oral Health Care Skills: Poon Bampen Community
This project examined the Poon Bampen Community in Phasi Charoen District, Bangkok, using the “Seven Community Study Tools.” Its aim was to develop a comprehensive understanding of the community’s physical, social, economic, cultural, and health system contexts. The study area was divided into three zones: the canal-side zone, the central zone, and the roadside zone. This made it possible to analyze each zone’s distinctive features, including social relationships, land use, and residents’ ways of life. The resulting systemic understanding of the community provides a foundation for planning health promotion and dental public health initiatives to improve residents’ quality of life.
In Phase 1, our third-year students collected data through structured interviews with residents of various ages, including older adults, people with chronic illnesses, and working-age adults. This diversity allowed for a well-rounded analysis of the area. The predetermined questions covered life history, health status, health behaviors, access to public health services, and participation in community activities. Walk-through surveys and direct observation were also conducted to examine the physical characteristics, social atmosphere, and living patterns of the roadside zone. The Seven Community Study Tools provided the framework for collecting and organizing data: Community mapping, Kinship diagrams, Community organizational structure, Community health system, Community calendar, Community history, and Life histories.Together, these tools ensured that the analysis covered the physical, social, cultural, and health dimensions of the community.
