Gender Diversity and Inclusion at Siam University
“Diversity” is one of the three pillars of Siam University (Employability, Diversity, Sustainability). Hence, we respect all dimensions of differences and actively promote gender equality by fostering a safe and inclusive campus environment. These efforts are carried out through student organizations, university-wide activities, and academic initiatives as summarized below. It is also affirmed in our policies and regulations. For instance, in the updated Student Conduct and Performance Policy of the International College (ICO-SIAM/STU/2025-V02), protection of gender diversity and inclusion was clearly stated. •
Inclusive Ambassador Selection. The traditional campus beauty pageant has been restructured into the Siam Ambassador program, held during welcome events such as the freshman orientation and Freshy Day. The competition is open to students of all gender identities, including LGBTQ+ students. It moves away from conventional beauty standards and instead emphasizes each candidate’s abilities, ideas, and perspectives.
•
Pride Month Campaigns. Faculty student councils, including the Student Council of the Faculty of Pharmacy, regularly observe Pride Month through online awareness campaigns. These initiatives express support for marriage equality legislation and advance gender equality across various aspects of university life.
•
Academic and Research Contributions. Students and staff also address LGBTQ+ issues through scholarship, including research on public attitudes toward and participation in Pride events in Bangkok. In addition, the university library provides books and learning resources in LGBTQ+ Studies to promote accurate understanding within the academic community.
•
Equality in University-Wide Activities. General university activities, such as blood donation drives, emphasize equal participation and welcome volunteers of all genders without discrimination.
Pride Month 2026: A Month Celebrating Diversity and Acceptance
